1.  BIRD PAINTING WORKSHOP: OIL PAINTING FOR BEGINNER TO ADVANCED

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Discover how to create beautiful, expressive, lifelike oil paintings. Learn a step by step method of painting captivating birds or other subjects from your photographs and gain the technical skills needed to take your painting experience to the next level.   Mornings will consist of Rose doing demonstrations while discussing the skills needed to create lifelike subjects using a direct oil painting method. You will gain insights into learning how to see your subject correctly and develop your skills in colour, value and edges. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to focus on your specific goals for growth as an artist and receive one-on-one instruction while painting from a reference of your choice or use one of Rose’s bird references.

2.  PAINT & SIP ONE DAY WORKSHOP

We supply the paintings materials and a delicious beverage. You supply the humour and some friends. ARTIST BIO
Rose Tanner is an award winning artist who loves the outdoors and studying birds. She is dedicated to portraying her subjects using traditional oil painting techniques, but she believes it’s her attention to their inner being that give’s them their lifelike quality in her paintings. She travels widely for her subjects and is active in supporting endangered birds and their habitat.

​Rose is represented in La Quinta, California and has awards in juried shows and exhibitions in Western Canada. She is an active member of The Canadian Federation of Artists and volunteers on the Victoria Chapter executive. Rose studied illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and is a student of Daniel Keys, the protégé to Master Painter Richard Schmidt. She has a solid professional background in publishing and software design, utilizing her talent to develop and promote the work of others. She has been a volunteer art instructor for at-risk youth and is currently working on a children’s book.

As a Canadian artist, Rose is dedicated to recording, researching and painting the birds of Canada. She uses techniques from the old dutch masters but take a contemporary approach to her subjects showing their personality and behaviour.

The Canadian bird list has four-hundred and twenty-six recognized bird species. It is also home to millions of birds migrating north to nest and reproduce. Even though she travels world wide for references, she will never run out of inspiration or subject matter in Canada.

  1. Wow!! I loved the art. I am quite interested in art but it’s really hard for me to be good in it. So recently went to one art show that was arranged at one of San Francisco event venues and gathered few tips from there. That is really helping me to improve.
