Days: 7 days per week (rain or shine)

Shifts:8:30-11:30

           11:30-2:30
           2:30-5:30
           5:30-8:30

There is no minimum or maximum number of days required when you join our team.  You can sign up for a shift last minute, for example, using our online calendar or you can have a set day throughout the season (e.g., every Monday morning from 8:30-11:30).  This gives you the freedom to work around your busy schedule!

In anticipation for a busy 2017 Piping Plover season, we are currently seeking eager volunteers who will join our Piping Plover Guardian Family during the bird’s critical breeding period (June & July).

Responsibilities include:
· Monitoring the bids while they are nesting and recording important behaviors
· Monitoring newly hatch Piping Plover chicks and recording important behaviors
· Sharing updates with the public
· Showing the public the Piping Plovers through spotting scopes and binoculars
· Providing feedback and updates to the Piping Plover Coordinator

You don’t have to be an avid birder to volunteer as training is provided!  However, if you are unable to attend training, you still have the opportunity to join the program by shadowing our experienced team of volunteers.

Location/Parking
Located just off of Spruce Street in Beach Area 1, drive straight through the entrance of the Provincial Park (do not continue driving to the beach and business strip). After showing your special pass at the gate house, turn LEFT at the FIRST parking lot and park your car near the trailer.

Make sure to display your volunteer parking pass (see map below for location of Ploverland).  If you do not have your parking pass yet, please tell gate attendant and I will issue one upon your arrival.  Call me at 705-351-0109 if you have any issues with finding our location.
